Hayk Khachatryan


University of Florida Assistant Professor and Economist

Dr. Khachatryan is an assistant professor and extension economist with a joint appointment in the University of Florida Food and Resource Economics Department and Mid-Florida Research and Education Center. His research focuses on issues in the field of horticultural economics, including economic impact analysis, consumer behavior, marketing and applied econometrics. Hayk’s extension program focuses on sustainable developments in the environmental horticulture industry, as well as determination of impacts of horticultural practices and policies in the urban environment.

Prior to joining the University of Florida in December 2010, Hayk worked as a research associate, and later as a postdoctoral research associate in the School of Economic Sciences at Washington State University. His previous research includes work in the area of transportation economics, energy economics, consumer economics, applied spatial econometrics, and applications of Geographic Information Systems in regional economics and cellulosic biofuels related research.
