Stephen is a prolific, enthusiastic, entertaining and effective educator with more than 300 published fact sheets, journal publications and newsletter articles; more than 200 digital slide presentations and approximately 70 digital video clips and programs. The garden columnist for the Fort Myers News-Press, Stephen has written more than 500 columns since 1999. He also writes for the South Florida Garden Almanac for Florida Gardening, a bimonthly statewide magazine. His extension career has included soil science education, work with producers of cocoa and coffee products, marketing assistance to small farmers, organizing of master gardeners, professional training for arborists, pesticide applicators and landscape professionals. He has served in an extension capacity overseas and in both California and Florida. He now leads a staff of 14 providing a wide array of extension education services to professionals and the general public. Stephen has a B.S. in Soil Science and M.S. in Soil Fertility and Plant Nutrition.
