Florida offers a great many native shrubs to choose from, but only a very small number are routinely used in landscapes For ecological and aesthetic reasons, as well as building more resilient landscapes, more native shrub species should be used than is currently the case.
This session will showcase some of the best Florida native shrubs that are adaptable to most landscapes in Central and North Florida. Aesthetic, selection and maintenance characteristics, including best features and specific needs, will be covered for about a dozen native shrub species, including plants that are available but tend to be less well known and those which have shown tolerance for freeze events.
Attendees will become familiar with the unique attributes and landscape requirements of the plants, and gain a comfort level needed to use these shrubs successfully in landscape projects.CONTINUING EDUCATION (CEUs)
